China's Prospects in Tennis at the 2008 Olympics

Tennis was an Olympic sport from 1896 to 1924, then appeared only as a demonstration sport in 1968 and 1984 before rejoining the regular program in 1988.

At Beijing 2008, tennis events run from August 10–17 at the Olympic Green Tennis Centre.

China has never had major success at Grand Slam level, but Li Ting and Sun Tiantian won Olympic gold in women's doubles in 2004. Whether that success can be repeated remains to be seen — the competition certainly isn't standing still.
