The Harbin Snow and Ice Festival officially runs from January 5 until February 15, but usually you can see the sculpures till March, when it is still cold enough.

General Information:           

Heilongjiang is the original area of the Manchu, whose predecessors founded the Jin-Dynasty in Harbin. The Russians built a railroad in Manchuria leading to Vladivostok, in 1905 the Japanese gained control over it.
