General Information:           

Hainan belonged to the kingdom Wu, one of the three kingdoms following the Han-Dynasty. In 1950 Hainan was conquered by the PR China. Before it was the last bastion of the Guomindang under Jiang Jieshi. Hainan became a Chinese province in 1988, before it belonged to Guangdong. Now Hainan is a special economy zone. The climate is semitropical.
