The Buddhist Luohan-Temple in Chongqing.

The area around the city called Dazu, located 160 km north-western of Chongqing. Buddha has supposedly left an imprint of his foot in that area. The area’s name originates from Buddha’s foot: “Dazu” means “big foot”.

General Information:           

Chongqing is China’s biggest city, as to the area it covers as well as to the population figure. It’s a growing industrial city and counts as one of the world’s dirtiest cities as to its air pollution. Chongqing was the capital of the Guomindang during their war against the Japanese from 1938 to 1945.
